About Us

Established in 1982, the purpose of our Guild is to preserve and promote the art of basket making. Our members are wonderful people whose skills and knowledge vary from folks who just love baskets to beginning basket weavers to professional artists, teachers and collectors. We have more than 200 members: from Washington and Oregon, Canada, and across the country.

Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm, except in July, August and December. The Guild's extensive library collection of books, pamphlets and video tapes is available for members' use during social time. After show-and-tell, at 7:30pm a program is presented, with subjects such as basketry techniques and materials, members' basketry travels, or unique basket makers. Visitors are always welcome to attend.

We meet at:

Phinney Neighborhood Center, in room 6
6532 Phinney Ave. N
Seattle, WA  98103

In case of inclement weather, the Guild meetings will follow the snow closure of the Seattle School District. Go to the School Report web site and check on the Seattle School District.

Members attend our fun monthly meetings, annual Spring Retreat and Basket Days, receive our newsletters, have the use of our extensive library of books, videos and periodicals, and receive information on basketry events and opportunities around the Northwest and the world.

Annual dues are payable by January. Interested in joining NWBW? Download the membership form and return, with membership fee, to
